— Sam Frank Smetana of Sparta, NJ went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus while surrounded by her family on July 27, 2017. She was 51 years old.
She is survived by her husband Andrew D. Smetana retired Sparta Police Officer; her children, London Hannigan, Christy Smetana, Rebekah “Grayson” Smetana, Andrew P Smetana and his wife Jacklyn, Tamara Forte and her husband William; her grandsons, Ryland and Jax Forte; her sister, Shirley Sparacino and her husband Tony of Houston, TX; and her brother Allen Frank of Graniteville, SC.
Sam was born in Charleston, SC on Christmas Day 1965, the daughter of Paul Raymond Frank and Francis (Pack) Frank both predeceased. Sam moved from South Carolina to New Jersey in July of 1991. Sam loved living in New Jersey and often said, “New Jersey is the center of the universe.” Sam graduated from Centenary College Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and a minor in both History and English. She was a member of the Sparta Ambulance Squad and active in the Pope John High School booster club. Sam was employed by Therapeutics Unlimited in Sparta, NJ, where she was the office manager. Sam was full of life and would do anything to help others; she often did without to help those in need.
Sam passed away at Morristown Medical Center after a short battle with a very rare blood cancer. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, dedicated worker, and an unconditionally loving wife and mother.
A Gathering will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Christian Faith Fellowship Church from 10am to 2pm, Celebration of Life Service to begin at 3pm with repass to follow. There will be no graveside service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sam’s life.
