Steven Boyd Lutke of Highland Lakes, N.J., died in his home on Friday, Feb.26, 2021. He was 69.

He was born and raised in Ridgewood, N.J., to Harry and Virginia Lutke. He later moved to Chatham, N.J., where he married Elaine Ahle and became the proud father of two boys, Jonathan and Tim.

Steven joined his father, Harry, in their family business of home design and renovation.S teve’s love of the outdoors brought him to Highland Lake. The beauty surrounding him, combined with his love of sports and competition, peeked a new interest in mountain biking, which he shared with his eldest son, Jonathan, engaging in several downhill competitions.

The most notable legacy of Steven’s life, however, is rooted in his love for music which he inherited from his mother “Ginger,” one of the Dinning Sister trio.

Steve’s instrument of choice from his early years became the banjo, which those of us who have been privileged to hear him play can all agree he certainly mastered! During this very unusual past year, Steve’s happiest moments were spent with his son Tim and three delightful grandchildren, as Tim and their mom, Kelsey, made it happen.

Visitation was held March 2 at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, Vernon, N.J. The funeral service took place in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Freedom Church, 145 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.
