Thelma (“Tilly”) McPeek of Andover Township, N.J., died Monday, April 26, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was 91.

Tilly was born on May 6, 1929, in Easton, Pa., to the late Delmont and Elizabeth (Savacool) Tillman and was raised in Blairstown, N.J. She worked as a clerk for A&P in Sussex for 37 years prior to her retirement in 1994.

Tilly was an active member of the Andover United Methodist Church for many years and participated in their many fundraisers and community service events. She was an excellent cook and was known for her English muffin bread and soups, which she loved to share with her neighbors. Tilly also enjoyed canning jellies and jams. She was an avid reader and a die-hard New York Mets fan.

In addition to her parents, Tilly was also predeceased by her husband, Ernest “Bill” W. McPeek Sr.; son, James McPeek; and her brother, Richard Tillman.

She is survived by her son, Bill McPeek and wife, Janice, of Newton, N.J.; grandson, Aaron McPeek and wife, Jacqueline, of Upper Chichester, Pa.; granddaughter, Katie McPeek and partner, Miles Austin of Byram Township, N.J.; great-granddaughter, Noelle McPeek; and a great-grandchild due in November. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Race of Blairstown; and many nieces and nephews on both the McPeek and Tillman sides of the family.

Visitation followed by a funeral service were held May 4 at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton.
