Richard Illingworth
Richard T. Illingworth, 62, of Sparta, died peacefully at home, on Oct. 29, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born in New Haven, CT and lived in Williamstown, MA before moving to Sparta in 1984. He was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
He was a member of the US Army reserves.
Richard was Vice President of Human Resources at Pfizer Inc., in New York City; retiring in 2009 after 30 years. He and his wife resided in Scottsdale, AZ during the winter. Richard trained for Disaster Relief with the Red Cross and was a longtime member of the Board of Directors for the Southern Connecticut State University Foundation. He was also a member of the Project Self Sufficiency Leadership Board where he shared his human resources experience and volunteered in their career center.
He was a founding member of Saint Kateri Church in Sparta.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Janice (nee McAuley) Illingworth; devoted father of Scott Illingworth, Heather Brogan and her husband Todd; grandfather of Kylie and brother of Linda Weiss and Robert Illingworth.
A funeral mass was held on Monday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m. at Saint Kateri Church, 427 Stanhope Rd., Sparta, NJ 07871.
