Sparta graduate deployed to Iraq

SPARTA-Airman First Class Michael MacDonald, formerly of Sparta, has been deployed to Iraq as crew chief for a special U.S. Air Force operation. MacDonald, the son of Jack and Judith MacDonald of Sparta, was deployed June 1. MacDonald is a 2001 graduate of Sparta High School and joined the Air Force in February 2002. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. In Iraq, MacDonald is responsible for maintenance and mechanical launch and recovery missions.
