Sparta resident makes ‘top doctor' lists

    SPARTA-Dr. John R. Bach, vice chairman and professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, and professor of neurosciences at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, was recently named as one of "America's Top Doctors" and one of the "Top Doctors in the NY Metro Area" by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. He was also named as one of "The City's Top Doctors" by New York Magazine. Dr. Bach, who has been named to the lists several times, was recognized for his work in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is associate medical director of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as medical director of the Center for Noninvasive Mechanical Ventilation Alternatives and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at University Hospital. An expert in neuromuscular weakness and respiratory impairment, Dr. Bach is internationally recognized for his ground-breaking work in noninvasive mechanical ventilation. He has been at University Hospital for 22 years and is currently working on a study for the Department of Health and Human Services to improve the quality of life for ventilator users. Dr. Bach is among 13 University Hospital physicians on the Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors" list. He is also among 42 physicians at University Hospital on the Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors in the NY Metro Area" list as well as among 17 physicians at University Hospital on New York Magazine's "The City's Top Doctors" list.
