Lafayette — Ten students from The Branchville Dance Centre, located in Olde Lafayette Village, have auditioned for and have been accepted into prestigious summer intensive programs throughout the country. The programs range from two-week to six-week sessions, offering intensive training, primarily in ballet, for six days a week. The girls will also be studying in various other genres. Teachers are professional dance teachers and choreographers. Several of the girls have also received scholarships from the institutes they will be attending. Scholarships are only offered to those students who display potential to continue in a professional dance career. Sparta students accepted include Jessica Scherr, 15, who will attend Walnut Hill Ballet Conservatory in Massachusetts and Katie Hoffmann, 12, who will attend the Joffrey Summer Intensive in New York City.
