Alpine School annual tricky tray set for Feb. 24

    Sparta - Alpine Elementary School will hold its annual Tricky Tray starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at the school, located on Andover Road in Sparta. Admission is free and includes complimentary appetizers, coffee, tea, and homemade desserts. Hot dogs, soda, and bottled water will be sold for a nominal fee. This year’s event will feature over 150 trays and a 50/50 raffle. Some of this year’s “super specials” and “specials” include a Gateway notebook computer, digital cameras, Apple iPod, Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance SP, Playstation2, portable DVD player with two screens for the car, and an electric scooter. Also featured are a “date night” package, including overnight hotel, dinner, lunch, and massages for two; round-trip sedan to Newark Airport; an Eric Carle signed poster; Hidden Valley lift tickets; a “theater night” package with tickets to Paper Mill Playhouse and dinner for two; two $170 “Imagine That” birthday party packages; $225 Rage Diva birthday party package; N.J. Nets, N.J. Devils, and N.Y. Yankees tickets; and an autographed hockey puck by Brian Gionta of the N.J. Devils. Also among the prizes are a “take a week off from the kitchen” package worth over $200; J. Thomas Jeweler package’ VIP tickets to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart; $100 Simon Mall gift card; $100 Mohawk House gift certificate; pet package from Andover Animal Hospital and Pets Plus; admissions to Medieval Times, Land of Make Believe, and Sterling Hill Mining Museum; manicures and pedicures; trial fitness memberships; shopping; dining, and guitar lessons. More donations are arriving daily. All trays have a minimum value of $50, with many valued over $100. All monies received from Alpine School’s fund-raising goes directly into improving the school and helping their students. The Tricky Tray is traditionally the largest fund raising activity of the year. Doors open at 6 p.m.; drawings begin at 8 p.m. Cash only. No one under 18 will be admitted.
