SPARTA-American Legion Post 491 will send six boys to Boys State at Rider University next week. The boys' trip is sponsored by the Sparta Kiwanis Club, A & B Bagels & Deli, and the Sussex County Legion. Attending Boys State June 20 through 25 are Matthew Nolan, Anthony Russo and Daniel Faherty from Pope John XXIII Regional High School; Greg Foderaro and  Benjamin Jones from Sparta High School, and Nicholas Mindos from Sussex County Technical School. Boys State is an action-packed week devoted to educating the boys about our nation's history, its government and the many famous and heroic people that allowed our country to grow.  While there, the boys will be involved in the establishment of a fictional government with elections to be held for a number of government and municipal offices.
