Antiques, art and lifestyle shop expands in Lafayette Village
Lafayette While many shops and chains are folding in a tough economy, Village Antiques and Collectibles in Lafayette Village is doing the opposite: not only surviving, but expanding. Shop owner Debbie Lauda says it’s all “thanks to our loyal customers,” that the store has “grown from one tiny shop in Olde Lafayette Village and has expanded several times in the past five years.” The business began in January of 2006, located in Building J at Olde Lafayette Village, next door to its two sister shops, Vintage Vanilla, which features decor in whites and pastels, and the Lodge, the newest addition. To celebrate the new shop, Lauda held a grand May 28 and 29, for the Lodge. This shop features lodge-style antiques, rustic furniture, primitives, Adirondack-influenced furniture and decorative items and the work of Sussex County artist Jack Alberta. Alberta’s work includes furniture and other items made from nature, such as trees and antlers. All three shops are multi-dealer co-ops selling antiques, collectibles, furniture, pottery, glassware, vintage jewelry and clothing.
