Authors visit Helen Morgan School during Author Week'

Sparta - Students and staff at the Helen Morgan School in Sparta recently celebrated “Author Week,” highlighted by presentations by three noted children’s authors. Kindergarten through fourth graders listened to Pamela Swallow, Alan St. Jean and Timothy Bush as they described their lives as authors and what goes into producing a book. Bush has written and illustrated five books for young readers, and illustrated four books written by others. Characterized by imagination, humor and high energy, his stories use settings as diverse as Ice Age France and outer space to explore basic issues of childhood. His stage adaptation of his book, Grunt! The Primitive Cave Boy, was produced by the Denver Center Theatre Company, and toured regionally in the spring of 2000. Children’s Book-of-the-Month Club, among others, has frequently selected his books. He spent two years as a Fulbright teaching assistant in Vienna, Austria, and also lived for a time in the Greek Islands. An avid runner, Bush currently resides in NYC.
