Awards recognize smart growth' advocates
Sparta - The Sussex County Economic Development Partnership will host its second annual awards luncheon to honor outstanding business leadership and advocacy at noon today (Thursday, May 25), at Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. Ten categories of leadership in the county will be recognized. “The awards are intended to provide positive recognition of the people and businesses that keep Sussex County’s economy strong,” explained Glenn Lewis, 2006 chairman of the partnership board. “The Sussex County Economic Development Partnership’s organizational mission is dedicated to the creation of sustainable economic opportunity and prosperity to improve the quality of life in Sussex County,” said Lewis. He said the group “proactively facilitates the recruitment, retention and expansion of business that complements and is consistent with the character and environment of Sussex County.” The award categories include new business, business expansion, business advocacy, municipal, business investment, business innovation, training and workforce development, environmental leadership, distinctive leadership and past chairman’s Award. “All 10 categories apply to key elements of economic development, and we are honored to be able to recognize both the nominees and award recipients,” Lewis said.
