SUSSeX county — Pass It Along, joined by First Hope Bank in Sparta, will hold its first "Golf Outing" on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Great Gorge Country Club in Vernon. Lunch and registration will begin at noon, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at 6 p.m. The $175 fee per golfer includes golf fees, cart, lunch and dinner; dinner alone is $60. The group is still looking for golfers, sponsors and small businesses for the silent auction and for the ad journal. There are many different levels of sponsorship. For more details, visit passitalong.org. To register or offer sponsorship, call 973-726-9777 or email volunteer@passitalong.org. The mission of Pass It Along is to inspire, mobilize, and lead volunteers to service projects in which individuals "pass along" their gifts to meet the needs of their community. The group provides the training, the support, and the encouragement needed to make this possible. Most of the volunteer projects fall under broad categories, such as youth leadership, training development, literacy, providing respite for the homebound and hospitalized, providing companionship to senior citizens, fighting hunger, and working with people with disabilities. The non-profit group, with offices in Sparta, was officially founded in 2001 as a new way for people to make a difference in their community, inspired by a group of young children who had great passion for helping those in need. An affiliate of Hands On Network, the programs are offered in a spirit of fun, with the promise of direct, tangible, community impact.
