‘Bike Run for LuLu' Sept. 17 to aid Tomorrows Children's Fund

Sparta - North Jersey Cycle will hold its second annual “Bike Run for LuLu” on Sunday, Sept. 17, to benefit the Tomorrows Children’s Fund at the Hackensack Medical Center. LuLu is the 12- year-old daughter of Geroge M. Sensale, Sparta resident and co-owner of North Jersey Cycle in Sparta, which builds, customizes and repairs motorcycles. The fifth of Sensale’s six children, LuLu was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in July and treated at the Tomorrows Children’s Institute at the medical center. “The care and warmth my daughter received was overwhelming,” said Sensale. “The institute helped not only my daughter but our entire family get through a very difficult and devastating time in our life.” Today, LuLu is in remission and “doing tremendous,” Sensale continued. She makes high honors in school and participates fully in athletics. “Thanks to God and the Tomorrow’s Children’s Institute, LuLu will do fine,” he declared.” However, Sensale noted, in addition to the mental and emotional strain experienced by patients and their families, many are also overburdened by financial strain as a result of the illness in the family. “If you are unable to work, how do you pay your bills?” he asked. He said he is continuing to hold the “Bike Run for LuLu” to help others who might find themselves in a similar situation. In addition, he is seeking donations to enable North Jersey Cycle to build a one of a kind motorcycle to be raffled off, with the proceeds donated to the Tomorrows Children’s Fund. Registration for the Bike Run for LuLu will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, at North Jersey Cycle, 514 Rte. 15 in Sparta. Cost is $20 per rider; $10 for a passenger. Cost for picnic only is $20. Pre-registration is suggested. Riders will travel through Sussex and Warren counties, with a picnic at Hillside Park in Andover. There will be food, beverages, music by Buzzfiend, raffles (including a 50/50), auction and vendors. Donations are being accepted, payable to “Run for LuLu Fund” (EIN 260135280).
