Boy Scout Troop 312 and Justin Cirone give back to the Mt. Olive community
Mt. Olive Justin Cirone, Troop 312, and local businesses donate their time to beautify Flanders Park on Flanders-Bartley Rd., Mt. Olive, with a total $1,000 donated by the following businesses: Meier Stone Company, Plant Detectives, Bell’s Mansion, and Blue Atlas Nursery. Boy Scout Troop 312, Budd Lake, is giving back to Mt. Olive, as part of their mission to help beautify the community. Cirone, 17, Life Scout, recently collected donations for his Eagle Scout project which include: nine yards of river stone, eight bluestone slates, 15 euonymus plants, and 200 feet of landscape fabric. These donations were used at Flanders Park to improve the image of the flagpole, proudly waving the American flag. The second part to this Eagle Scout project was to clean out the overgrown volleyball courts. Cirone, along with the guidance of Mr. Lynch, Supervisor of Parks, Buildings, and Grounds, designed and supervised this project from beginning to end. The troop has a long track record of enhancing public areas, schools, and religious institutes across Mt. Olive. “The ideals behind Boy Scouts have made a deep impression on who I am and who I will be. One of the greatest rewards from Boy Scouts is knowing that I have forever changed our community.” said Cirone. This Eagle Scout project would not have been possible without everyone’s help. Those who attended and volunteered their time include: Justin Cirone, Brian Cirone, Mike Cirone, Linda Cirone, Phill Regina, Dominic Regina, Jesse VanGlahn, Mike VanGlahn, Zach Miller, Scot Miller, Phil O’Connell, Peter Vandenberg, Scott Rennalls, Brian Rennalls, Eric Eevardi, Paul Tritt, James Allen, David Mariani, Eric Wood, Jonathan Allen, Ethan Miller, Conor McGrath, Matt Henry, Robbie Bauer, Grant Guenther, Alex Falvey. The scouts extend a special thanks to Bell’s Mansion of Stanhope, for donating lunches to all involved.
