"Brain Bee' competition registration is on

    LAFAYETTE-High school students throughout New Jersey are encouraged to register for the 2005 Brain Bee Competition, which will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Schering-Plough Research Institute in Lafayette. Registration is free and study materials will be provided to any student who wishes to participate. Registration closes on Jan. 14. Modeled after a spelling bee, Brain Bee competitors participate in a live question-and-answer contest centered on "brain-related" trivia, focusing on topics such as intelligence, memory, emotions, sensations, movement, stress, aging, sleep and addiction. The competition is sponsored by Schering-Plough and will be judged by local members of the Society for Neuroscience. The top three finishers of the competition will receive cash prizes and the first place winner will receive money for a trip for two to take part in the Internationa] Brain Bee Competition, held in Baltimore, Md. during National Brain Awareness Week, Mar. 14-20.
