Chinese New Year

Sparta Middle School teacher Peter Massardo presents Katie Clark (left) and Abigail Pait with a fortune cookie during the Chinese New Year celebration at Sparta Middle School. Students at the school learned some things about the Chinese culture during their lunch period recently. Jennifer Montesano, assistant principal, works with teachers to present activities during a lunch period once a month, encouraging students to foster respect for oneself, respect for others and to accept responsibility for one’s actions. These activities remind students they are an important part of a global society. Strong emphasis is also placed on nurturing relationships with peers and others within the school community.
