Civil War discussion group forming
Newton -Plans are under way to form a Civil War Round Table in Sussex County. Participants will meet monthly to foster an interest in the Civil War. Activities include sponsoring distinguished speakers, conducting tours to battlefields, and involvement in preservation efforts. There are hundreds of Round Tables across the country, including approximately 15 in N.J. This newest Round Table is being formed by George Khoury, a supervisor with the Spotswood public school district and a long-time student of the Civil War, and by Dr. Bradley Gottfried, president of Sussex County Community College, who has written several books on the Civil War. An organizational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Sussex County Community College, One College Hill, Newton, NJ in the College Theater. For information, call 973-300-2122.
