    Newton - The Safe Sitter baby-sitting course teaches students ages 11 and older to learn to become responsible baby sitters. Classes are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, from Oct. 5 through Oct. 26, at Newton Memorial Hospital, 175 High St. Participants will learn the essentials of how to care for children, age-appropriate games and activities, injury prevention, basic first aid, home and fire safety, feeding, diapering, and dealing with bleeding and breathing emergencies. Students will also learn baby sitting as a business with proper advertising and interviewing techniques. Class size is limited. Fee $50; pre-registration required. For information, call 973-579-8340. Stress management seminar This three-day course is for health-care providers whose jobs place them in the position of having to perform CPR. The will include adult one- and two-rescuer adult CPR, pediatric CPR and rescue breathing, barrier devices, bag mask ventilation, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Health-care provider BLS course (Sparta) This two-day course is for health-care providers whose jobs place them in the position of having to perform CPR.
