County college opens Center for Diversity and Equality
Newton The grand opening and open house for Sussex County Community College’s new Center for Diversity and Equality will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. Refreshments will be served and visitors can learn about diversity initiatives at SCCC. Additionally, those who attend will have the opportunity to pick up a schedule of events and a diversity calendar. The opening will be presided upon by Paul Prestwich and Harry Damato. Live music will be provided by Marafanyi Percussion: Drum, Voice and Percussion in Poetic Motion. Together these pioneering ladies present an original show blending the pulsating rhythms of West Africa with vocals and world sensibility. The Center for Diversity and Equality has been formed at SCCC to serve all members of the campus community. The Center’s mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for programs that foster respect, tolerance, wellness, and education.
