April 8 Michelle Weiss, 39, of Olyphant, Pa, pled guilty to the third degree crime of conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance. She is scheduled for sentencing on June 6. She admitted that on July 10, 2006, she and two other individuals from Pennsylvania traveled to the New Jersey to obtain cocaine and heroin. Following a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer Marc Rubino, she was found to be in possession of three hypodermic needles and one of her co-conspirators was found to be in possession of 34 bags of heroin. April 10 Two juveniles pled guilty on April 10, to third degree conspiracy to commit arson. They were adjudicated juvenile delinquents by the court. The juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were sentenced to 18 months probation on condition that they serve 30 days in the Juvenile Detention Center with credit for 16 days, balance suspended and a six-month loss of their driver’s licenses. They must also complete 50 hours community service, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, undergo a fire-starter evaluation and complete all recommendations, submit DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, pay restitution to the victim, have no contact with co-defendants and testify truthfully against co-defendants. The juveniles and several other juvenile co-defendants set off an explosive device using gasoline on the Lenape Valley Regional High School baseball outfield while teams were practicing on adjacent fields. April 11 Sean F. Wanamaker, 23, of St. Petersburg, Fla., was sentenced to 270 days in jail and must pay $2,000 restitution. In addition, he will be required to submit his DNA and pay Court costs. Wanamaker pled guilty to fourth degree aggravated assault on Feb. 19. On July 31, 2007 in Vernon, police responded to a disturbance call at a residence the defendant was visiting. When he was advised he was under arrest, he raised a beer bottle over his head and threatened to strike the officer with it. Claire M. Fendt, 19, of Sparta, was sentenced to two years probation, 50 hours of community service and 1 year loss of license. She must also pay Court costs and submit a DNA sample. Fendt pled guilty on Nov. 5, 2007 to fourth degree joyriding and third degree possession of heroin. She admitted to taking a vehicle belonging to a family member without their permission and on an earlier date, being in possession of heroin. April 14 Dana Villano, 22, of Sussex, pled guilty to the third degree crime of forgery. She is scheduled for sentencing on June 13. She admitted passing several counterfeit $20 bills in order to obtain products and change in the Township of Vernon. Sean Schinzel, 32, of Hopatcong, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is scheduled for sentencing on May 19. He admitted to possessing cocaine on September 20, 2007 in Hopatcong. The matter was investigated by Hopatcong Police Sgt. Thomas Kmetz. A juvenile, who pled guilty on April 10, to three count of third degree burglary, was sentenced. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, 16, was sentenced to 18 months probation on condition that he serve 15 days in the Juvenile Detention Center (5 days to be served during spring break from school and 10 days suspended) and a 6-month loss of driver’s license. He must also pay restitution of $1859.04 to the victim, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, submit a DNA sample and undergo random drug testing. The juvenile broke into the U-Save Gas Station in Newton on three different occasions by smashing out the front glass door. Dennis Defreese, 29, of Haskell, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and fourth degree attempted theft. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 13. He admitted to possessing one MDMA tablet, also known as Ecstasy, in Hardyston Township on Jan. 4, and to attempting to steal an X-box in Hardyston Township on Feb. 1. Kyle Corbran, 19, of Highland Lakes, pled guilty to the third degree crime of burglary, two counts of fourth degree theft and third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 13. He admitted to possessing a small amount of heroin in Vernon Township on Nov. 22, 2007 and that he entered a motor vehicle and stole a camera from it on one occasion, and stole a reciprocating saw on another occasion. George Morehouse, 35 of Newton, pled guilty to violating his probation and was sentenced to a term of extended probation for one year. Defendant must comply with the original conditions of probation as well as enroll in intensive outpatient counseling. He initially pled guilty on Nov. 28, 2006 to aggravated assault, a third degree crime. A juvenile pled guilty on April 14, to third degree conspiracy to commit arson. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 16, was sentenced to 12 months probation on condition that he serve 30 days in the Juvenile Detention Center with a credit of 12 days, balance suspended and a three month loss of his driver’s license starting today. He must also complete 40 hours of community service, pay restitution to the victim, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, undergo a fire-starter evaluation and follow recommendations, have no contact with co-defendants and testify truthfully against any co-defendants. April 16 Gregory Bracco, 21 of Hoptacong, pled guilty to violating his probation and was sentenced to 364 days in county jail with credit for 137 days time served. Probation was terminated as unimproved. He initially pled guilty on March 16, 2007 to third degree crime of accomplice liability to possess heroin. April 17 An indictment charges Patrycja Rzemien, 19 of Wallington, with theft, a third degree crime. The case was investigated by Detective Brian Jernick of the Vernon Township Police Department. The Grand Jury alleges that on August 22, 2007 the defendant, while employed for a local cleaning service, took jewelry belonging to one of the homeowners the service was employed by. The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Gregory R. Mueller. Arraignment before the Superior Court in Newton will be within the next 6 weeks. Mark Levin, 47, of Highland Lakes, pled guilty third degree aggravated assault, driving while suspended, driving without insurance and leaving the scene of an accident. Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 13. He admitted to colliding with the rear end of a vehicle belonging to a Vernon resident and then leaving the scene. Ane indictment charges Nicola S. Earle, 33 of Hackensack, New Jersey with four counts of third degree forgery, four counts of fourth degree identity theft and one count of fourth degree theft by deception. The case was investigated by Detective Neil Casey of the Town of Newton Police Department. The Grand Jury alleges that between Aug. 27, 2005 and Nov. 23, 2005, the defendant obtained identification information of another and used it for her own benefit. A Grand Jury indictment is a charge only. The defendant is presumed innocent until guilt may be proved at a jury trial. James Cunneely, 31 of Hardyston, was sentenced to three years state prison with 98 days credit. Defendant must continue with counseling, have no contact with the victim, register under Megan’s Law, be subject to parole supervision for life, submit a DNA sample and forfeit his teaching position. Fines and costs are in the amount of $2,105. Between Jan. 1, 2007 and Feb. 5, 2007 the defendant committed an act of sexual penetration with a minor female.
