    September 18 Ryan Johnson, age 30, of Andover, pled guilty to the fourth degree crime of unlawful possession of a dagger. He is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 9. He admitted to possessing a dagger at the time of his arrest by New Jersey State Trooper P. Kerrick on June 5 in Andover Borough. September 19 The Sussex County Grand Jury handed up an indictment charging Daniel Davies, age 54, of Montague, Matthew Davies, 27 of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Joshua Davies, age 26, of Port Jervis, N.Y. Daniel Davies was indicted for second degree attempting to disarm a police officer, third degree resisting arrest and fourth degree resisting arrest. Matthew Davits and Joshua Davies were both indicted for third degree accomplice liability to resisting arrest and fourth degree resisting arrest. It is alleged that on June 24, 2004 in Montague, that Daniel Davies resisted arrest by members of the Sussex County Sheriffs Department, and that his two sons assisted him in that conduct, and that during the conduct, he attempted to take control over one of the officer’s guns. It is also alleged on the same occasion that Matthew and Joshua Davies resisted arrest by flight. The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Reed. Arraignment before the Superior Court in Newton will be within the next six weeks. Ann indictment is a charge only. Guilt or innocence will be determined by trial before a jury. September 22, Norman Benjamin, age 40 of Passaic, was sentenced to four years probation, 229 days in county jail and no contact with victims or their caregivers. Fines and costs are in the amount of $155. He pled guilty on June 26 to one count of Child Abuse, a 4th degree crime. On two occasions between June 1, 1998 and Jan. 31, 1999 the defendant used excessive corporal punishment on a 5-year-old boy by striking him with a leather belt. Genevieve Benjamin, age 37 of Passaic, was sentenced to four years probation, 149 days in county jail and no contact with victims or their caregivers. Fines and costs are in the amount of $155. She pled guilty on April 6 to one count of Child Abuse, a 4th degree crime. While living in Franklin the defendant allowed her husband to hit the victim with a belt and observed him having sexual contact with the victim and failed to stop her husband.
