    Digital Photography “Digital Photography: Mastering & Choosing a Digital Camera for Your Specific Needs,” will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on four Tuesdays, beginning April 25. Classes will be held in Building E, Room 105, at the college, located at One College Hill Rd. in Newton. This class is designed to explain how features function and why they are (or are not) important to the photographer. Topics will include e-mailing digital photographs, scanning and printing existing slides and photographs, and using the computer to edit images. Distance learning The Corporate and Community Education division at Sussex County Community College offers a wide array of online-distance learning options. Courses are available at all times, which provides total flexibility over when to access lessons. Distance learning is also available for insurance professionals, teacher professional development, and youth gifted and talented. Online courses are offered for professionals in the insurance industry who are looking to complete the required 48 credit hours needed for license renewal. Among the courses offered are “Fundamentals of Mortgage Lending,” “Life, Health, Disability & Long-Term Care,” “Principles of Insurance,” “Property Insurance” and “Wills & Trusts.” Corporate and Community Education partners with the N.J. Dept. of Education to offer professional development workshops for teachers. Current topics include “Who are We?” “Redefining America: A Nation in Transition (Understanding Diversity)” “Math Tricks for Math Teachers,” “Amazing Books: Get Teen Students to Read More” and “How Your Brain Works.” “Gifted and talented” online courses offer students in grades seven through 12 the extra challenge they need. These instructor-facilitated courses feature in-depth content, extensive Web research links and reading selections, and the opportunity for interaction with other gifted and talented students via live instructor-hosted chat rooms and virtual discussion boards. Learn to sing The facets of healthy vocal production, ways to sing and speak with more confidence, and reduce performance anxiety will be explored from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in Building R, Room 106. Participants will learn to lessen the negative impact of their “inner critic.” No prior vocal experience is required - just a desire to sing and have fun. A $15 materials fee will be collected in class for a vocal practice CD for follow-up home study. Comfortable clothes are recommended. Instructor is Ruth Ratliff, soprano, experienced teacher and performer, founder of Jemini Music Studio, and member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Start a business “First Steps in Starting a Business” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April; 22, in Building E, Room 302. Attendees will learn where to begin and understand what it takes to get a business off the ground. Topics covered will include the basics on registering, developing, and financing a business. All attendees will receive a new business checklist, in addition to a copy of the U.S. Small Business Administration Resource Guide for “Starting and Expanding Businesses.” Cost is $35 per person.
