“It only takes one tip to make a difference,” said Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada at the annual Sussex County Sheriff’s Crimestoppers reception May 12 at the Farmstead Golf and Country Club. Strada reported that a recent tip has thus far resulted in the arrest of four suspects, and the seizure of 25 lbs. of raw marijuana, over 100 lbs. of THC (marijuana) edibles, eight ounces of raw psilocybin mushrooms, 44 boxes of mushroom edibles, 15 bricks (750 bags) of heroin, three handguns and $44,572 cash.
Charges against the four suspects include one count of first degree maintaining a CDS production facility, four counts of second degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of first degree possession with the intent to distribute hash, six counts of second degree possession with the intent to distribute psilocybin (mushrooms), one count of second degree possession with the intent to distribute heroin, three counts of second degree of certain persons not permitted to possess firearms. He said there would be more charges coming as it’s an ongoing investigation.
In other news at the benefit, Sheriff Strada announced that Capt. Beller, who he said was a “force multiplier,” will be retiring in October after 25 years on the force.
