Andover - The 2006 Curves Food Drive brought in 950 pounds in Andover, which will benefit local food banks in Sussex County. Around the world, Curves members donated more than 11 million pounds of food to their local food banks. Curves is the largest franchisor of fitness centers in the world. This was Curves International’s eighth Food Drive and the third time that Curves of Andover has participated. Every March, women are allowed to donate a bag of groceries in lieu of paying the Curves membership fee. Thousands of women take advantage of the opportunity to help themselves become healthier while contributing to the needs of their community’s less fortunate residents. “Curves and our members are delighted to help our community,” said Linda Bassett, Andover Curves franchise owner. “The food drive is an excellent program that fits perfectly with the Curves philosophy—promoting the health of the whole woman. The opportunity for our members to give back to the Andover community promotes the spirit of giving.” Last year, 2005, Curves members collected and distributed more than 10 million pounds of food to local food banks.
