Dining to Donate fundraiser helped by five Sparta restaurants
SPARTA Five local restaurants have agreed to donate 10 percent of their proceeds on Tuesday, May 20 to Sparta High School’s “Project Graduation.” Casa Mia, Docs Sparta, Krogh’s Restaurant and Brew Pub, Villa Capri and Village Saloon are participating in this fundraiser to help make graduation night a fun, memorable and safe experience for this year’s graduating seniors. For the community it’s a chance to dine out on a weeknight while giving back to the local students. Advance reservations are recommended. An annual event since 1988, Sparta High School Seniors will get their diplomas and then get aboard buses headed for a night of drug-free and alcohol-free fun. The all-night event is intended to protect Sparta students from motor vehicle accidents by providing an alternative to reckless behavior common on graduation night. Last year more than 80 percent of seniors attended. According to organizers, students who attended in the past raved about Project Graduation’s food, prizes, music and entertainment. Project Graduation succeeds through the volunteer efforts and financial backing of the community, including schools, parents, businesses, and community leaders. “I am thrilled to participate in Project Graduation Dining to Donate,” said Barbara Toth, owner of Village Saloon. “It feels good to give back because I’m grateful to the people of Sparta for their years of loyalty and support.” Bob Fuchs owner of Krogh’s said, “Project Graduation saves lives, it is as simple as that and we would love to support this effort for many years to come.” “Dining to Donate” includes lunch, dinner or take out on Tuesday, May 20. Restaurant owners recommend making reservations in advance (or calling in take out orders early).
