Doctor to discuss types of bipolar disorder

    NEWTON - A popular lecturer and notable physician will discuss the different types of bipolar disorder at a meeting of NAMI Sussex on Monday, Aug. 7. The lecture is expected to start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Sussex House on the grounds of Newton Memorial Hospital. The lecture planned by Ivan K. Goldberg, M.D., will be titled “The Difference Between Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and Other Bipolar Disorders. Plus a Q&A on Other Topics.” Dr. Goldberg, currently in private practice in Manhattan, is retired from the attending staff of the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He has also been on the staff of the National Institute of Mental Health. He has authored the book Questions and Answers About Depression and Its Treatment, which is currently under revision. A popular feature of his lectures is his “Ask the Doctor” session, where he answers questions from the audience after his comments on a general topic.
