Erica Avondoglio graduates early, cum laude

Andover - Erica Curtis Avondoglio has graduated cum laude from the University of Delaware in three and one half years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree as a double major in English and political science, with a concentration in American politics. She plans to enter law school in the fall. While an undergraduate, Avondoglio was a volunteer tutor at The College School, a private elementary school in Newark, Del. She is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honour Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She is also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Avondoglio completed an internship in the law firm of Dwyer, Connell and Lisbona in Fairfield in 2005; in the Superior Court of N.J. in Newton in 2004; and in the office of 24th District Assemblywoman Alison McHose in 2003. In 2000 she served as a U.S. House of Representatives Page. That year she was also invited to take part in the Presidential Classroom Scholars Program. Avondoglio is a former “People to People” student ambassador, through which she traveled to England and the Scandinavian countries in 1998 and to Australia in 1996. Avondoglio, who grew up in Andover, is the daughter of Wade and Virginia S. Avondoglio and the great-great granddaughter of Emil and Angiolina Perona, who founded Perona Farms in 1917. She is a 2002 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta.
