SPARTA - The CFT is in the final stages of preparations to present its recommendations during a special meeting to the Sparta Board of Education and community on Monday, June 21, 7 p.m. in the Mohawk Avenue School. This meeting will summarize the work of five subcommittees conducted over a period of three months. The format of the evening will include a PowerPoint presentation, delivered by representatives of the subcommittees, followed by questions from the board of education and public. At the meeting on June 2 at the Alpine School subcommittees gathered formally one last time to prepare an outline and highlights of their findings. These finds will be incorporated into the PowerPoint presentation and a final written report. Both of these documents will be submitted to the board of education and posted to the district's Web site. The last hour of the meeting was set-aside for the facilities committee to present the three most favorably ranked "options" to solving the districts immediate and future facilities needs. In some cases it was the first time other committee members heard the recommendations, so reaction was mixed. The committee understands that the board of education and residents of Sparta will scrutinize their recommendations, so they are meticulously quantifying their recommendations and exploring every alternative before making their final recommendation. The meeting was officially adjourned at 10:30 p.m. although several members remained to review the details and the course of action for the following week. The final CFT meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, June 9 and 16 in the auditorium at the Mohawk Avenue School. Meetings commence at 7 p.m. Visit the district's Web site at www.sparta.org for additional details. Questions about the committee, facilities or related questions can be e-mailed to jeanie.eberhardt@sparta.org. Questions and responses will be posted on the Web site on an on-going basis.
