Facilities Project Update

    Sparta-Althought there were many other school related events including the Senior Monogram Dinner and a band and vocal concert at the Alpine School on the evening of May 26, more than 40 members of the Sparta Community Facilities Taskforce (CFT) gathered at the Helen Morgan School to continue their analysis and to fine-tune recommendations it will make to the board of education later this month. For weeks now the CFT has been learning about the districts goals, becoming familiar with the school sites and facilities, exploring financing options and learning about the educational requirements placed on the school district from outside agencies both at the state and federal level. The process of elimination has begun as the committee has developed evaluation criteria aimed at comparing each of the solutions they have developed. Some of the alternatives have already been eliminated leaving the most viable options to be further scrutinized by the group in the remaining weeks. The meeting was officially adjourned at 9:45 p.m. The next CFT meeting is scheduled for June 9th in the auditorium in the Mohawk Avenue School. Meeting will commence promptly at 7 p.m. Skylands Weekly (Channel 10) is featuring a segment on the CFT and its work on the dates listed below. Residents are encouraged to tune in.
