First Hope donates financial literacy curriculum to North Warren schools

Hope Susan Hillyerd, Manager of First Hope Bank’s office in Hope, and Lewis R. Beatty, First Hope’s chief financial officer, presented the North Warren School Board at its Sept. 19 meeting with a donation for the purchase of the Common Cents Financial Literacy curriculum for the district’s seventh grade students. Beatty said that financial literacy has been a major focus of First Hope Bank’s charitable contributions since 2001, with 18 area schools already using the Common Cents program. Both Hillyerd and Beatty are graduates of North Warren High School, and Beatty noted that it was “especially meaningful” for him to make the presentation to his alma mater. To Hillyerd’s right are Dr. Ken Green, Principal of North Warren Schools, and Devon Gehris, the Social Studies teacher who will introduce the curriculum to students.
