Franklin - Boy Scouts from Troop 90 in Franklin, recently spent a weekend camping at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook. While there, the Scouts were treated to a tour of the U.S. Coast Guard Station and were able to explore four different types of Coast Guard ships. Following the tour, the Scouts hiked around Fort Hancock, visited the Sandy Hook Lighthouse and spent some “quality time” fishing, flying kites and burying their friends in the sand at the beach. Troop 90 meets at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday nights at the Franklin Boro Senior Center. During the summer Troop 90 traveled to Fort A.P. Hill, Va., to attend the 2005 Boy Scout National Jamboree. The troop devotes one weekend a month to camping and other activities. For more information, call 973-827-6013.
