Free training to qualify childcare providers

NEWTON - To help meet the need for registered childcare providers in Sussex County, Norwescap Child and Family Resource Services will offer a free training course next month for people interested in earning income while caring for children at home. The eight-hour course to become a state-registered provider will be held over three evenings, from Monday, June 26, through Wednesday, June 28, at the Norwescap office, located in Suite 1 at 186 Halsey Rd. in Newton. Hours are Monday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Topics such as child development, health and safety, and professionalism will be covered. A home inspection will be conducted. Upon successful completion of the registration process, a childcare business can be listed with the Norwescap agency, which offers free referrals to parents seeking child care.
