Stanhope - Robert (Bobby) Giglio’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at the Musconetcong Post 278, American Legion. Bobby is a member of Troop 276, Byram Township. At the Court of Honor, he was honored with presentation by Sussex County Freeholders Glen Vetrano and Susan Zellman and Byram Township Council members Earl Reilly and Donna Griff. Bobby’s Scoutmasters saw him as a future Eagle early on. It took him only a little over a year at the start of his career to reache the first three scouting ranks - Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class - and earn three merit badges. Within the next two years he had earned seventeen additional merit badges and completed two more ranks - Star and Life. In addition, he served in many leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Troop Librarian and Troop Scribe. Bobby’s Eagle Project is easily viewed by anyone visiting the Byram Municipal Building. He beautified the front of the building with decorative paving stones, railroad ties, shrubs and new rock. He also constructed and installed three large benches to accommodate over thirty people. Along the Eagle path, Bobby had many enjoyable outdoor adventures. He said among his most memorable are the four years of summer camp at Camp Minsi in the Poconos, and several excellent trips to Sandy Hook and West Point. Bobby’s list of accomplishments outside of Scouting is equally impressive. He has been very active in school, community and church activities. A partial list includes assistant drum major for the Championship Lenape Valley Marching Band; delegate to the Sussex County Freeholders Youth in Government Day; ambassador to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar; delegate to the American Legion Boys State program; vice president of the Lenape Valley National Honor Society; also in the German Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society; member of the Byram Township Youth Recreation Committee since seventh grade; auditioned and selected for the All-Sussex County Band, North Jersey Area Wind Ensemble, and the Region 1 Symphonic Band; auditioned for and given a scholarship to the Newark Community School of the Arts and accepted into the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Wachovia Jazz for Teens program. A senior at Lenape Valley High School, Bobby plans to attend college in the fall.
