Helping Others

After hearing about the Nickelodeon fundraiser called, “We Got Your Back,” two Alpine students wanted to participate with their classes. Madeleine Cuan (left), a second grader in Gerilyn Walsh’s class, and her sister, Isabella, in Bett Shugg’s fourth-grade class, collected donations for school-age children victims of Hurricane Katrina. Twenty-four backpacks were purchased and filled with school supplies and small toys. The backpacks, weighing 160 pounds, were sent to children in the Gulf region.
