Rick Savage, owner of Savage Tunes recording studio, has played with the best Vernon - The tranquility and beauty of water has been the inspiration for art and music since time began, so it’s not surprising that musician/composer Rick Savage has chosen to set up his recording studio in the beautiful setting of his lake-front home in Highland Lakes. “I was living and working as a professional musician in Manhattan for nine years when I met my wife Elizabeth,” said Savage. “We both wanted to get out of the city and start a family, and we both wanted to live by the water, so when we found this property here in Highland Lakes we knew that it was perfect.” When the couple moved to Vernon, Savage continued to write for film and TV while working as a professional trumpet player, touring Europe and Japan. He initially didn’t plan to open a recording studio. “I was not looking to open a commercial studio when I first moved out here, but I was reluctant to continue networking in New York City. So I asked myself what could I do that I would enjoy and this just made sense,” he said. Savage Tunes provides recording artists with a beautiful location to record in while offering the latest technology. “I have the ability to bring out the best performance in my clients and make sure that the music shines through the use of the latest technology,” said Savage. “This, combined with a strong intuition and knowledge of songwriting and arranging, guarantees a competitive radio ready’ sound and a clear path to the market.” Savage attended the world-renowned music school at Indiana University and has vast experience as a musician, having performed with many of the worlds best musicians for over 25 years. He has been a band member or studio musician for such performers as Tony Bennett, Dione Warwick, Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach and Andy Williams. Among the local bands and singers who have recorded work at Savage Tunes are: singer/songwriter Don Ross, One Bad Otter, This Day Now, and The Sign Of Four. Savage has a rich composing background and recently scored the movie “A Whole New Day” for Cinemax, starring James Gandolfini. He was a semi-finalist in the 2003 Mountain Stage NewSong Festival and was the Number One artist for many weeds at www.extraplay.com He continues to be in demand as a performing and recording trumpet player, making guest solo appearances on the CD projects of many New York area artists.
