Sussex County - This year county food pantries are experiencing a 20 perent greater demand for food than in 2005. To close the gap, People Help of Sussex County will be placing boxes in businesses throughout the county to collect food to stock the food pantries. Students at Hilltop Country Day School in Sparta decorated the boxes that will be placed at Sussex County Community College for the food collection. In Sussex County it takes two people working full-time at minimum wage to make enough money to cover the cost of rent, leaving nothing for other expenses that are necessary to support a family. The Hilltop Student Council works in conjunction with many non-profit organizations in Sussex County which supports part of the school’s mission of developing a sensitivity and respect for the rights and abilities of others.
