If you build it, they will buy
After spending years as a pre-school teacher, Carey Weick of Newton got frustrated with the lack of educational value in toys and games. So she did what any terrifically creative mother would do - she made her own game. “Sure, some of them were educational, but there was nothing out there that taught kids safety at a young age,” she said of the toy selection in stores. Weick learned she had a knack for creating fun and educational games when she made some to use in her class and other teachers started asking to borrow them. “People kept on telling me I should make a game,” she said, so she followed their advice. The result is “Think in a Blink,” “a fun and educational trivia game for children ages 5 to 10 that teaches children about safety and manners.” Though she’d planned for it to come out by Christmas, “Think in a Blink” will hit stores across the nation in early January and is worth the wait. “I’m taking orders at a discounted price now,” Weick said. Clever illustrations and humorous questions allow children to “laugh while they learn,” and it offers two levels: beginner and advanced. Weick is taking pre-orders for $20 at thinkinablink@yahoo.com for delivery on Jan. 7. When the game comes out, the price will be $25.
