The Brennan Collection, a large display of Nativity sets from around the world, will be available for viewing at the Institute for Spiritual Development, 15 Sparta Avenue, Sparta, N.J. on Friday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This fabulous collection consists of a wide array of crèches from a variety of cultures. Each Nativity is entirely different in it’s depiction of the Holy Family, the wise men, the animals and the event itself. There will be fifty six crèches in all, originating from many regions of the United States, Austria, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, Tanzania, Uganda, Union of South Africa and Venezuela. This event is part of the ongoing fund raising effort of the ISD to raise money to restore the historic stained glass windows. The windows are a part of Sparta’s history. They are believed to be created in the Tiffany/Lefarge method and made in the nineteenth century. The building was constructed in 1868 and is the first to be placed on the town’s register of historical buildings. The event is open to everyone. The fee is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children. For further information, call 973-729-8261.
