Sussex County - The Internal Revenue Service continues to seek volunteers from throughout the state for the “Volunteer Return Preparation Program,” said IRS spokesperson Gregg Semanick. “There is a critical need for volunteers in Gloucester and Somerset Counties,” he noted. “Also, bi-lingual volunteers who are proficient in English and Spanish are sought across the state.” During the tax filing season, the volunteers help fill out tax returns for older taxpayers, people with disabilities, non-English speaking and other people who cannot afford professional assistance. Many volunteer groups offer free electronic tax filing. The IRS provides volunteers with free instruction and all the materials needed to prepare basic income tax returns, such as Forms 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040. Training for volunteers is generally held at convenient locations or via the Internet. For information, call 973-645-3749, or send a FAX to 973-645-6691, or send e-mail to judith.kuzma@irs.gov.
