Kiwanis raise funds for local youth

Sparta-The Sparta Kiwanis recently held its Ninth Annual Golf Outing at the Picatinny Golf Club. The golf outing benefited youth projects sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Each year the Sparta Kiwanis raises over $50,000 which in turn are returned to the Sparta Community. These funds are raised throught various fund raising activities including flower sales, 50-50 raffles, the steak bust and the golf outing to name a few. The Sparta Kiwanis returns the funds back to the community in the form of college scholarships, $18,800 in 2004 alone, hardship donations, club community projects and programs for very young children. Funds are also provided to youth sports organizations, local church programs, senior events, music programs and other worthy community enhancing programs that seek financial assistance. The following is a listing of local area businesses, who , combined with the golfers helped to insure the success of the Ninth Annual Golf Outing.
