Law firm gets a new address

    SPARTA — Daniel A. Colfax, Esq. recently relocated to 20 Main Street in Sparta. The law firm was founded in 1996, though Colfax has been in practice since 1988. During that time he has been active in the Morris/Sussex County area except for 2003. In January of that year he was called to active duty, to serve as Commanding Officer for Headquarters and Service Company, 6th Motor Transport Battalion in charge of the Forward Element of the 1st Transport Support Group in Iraq. Returning to civilian practice in 2004, Mr. Colfax retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Lt. Colonel in 2007. Colfax’s private practice concentrates in criminal and civil litigation, as well as corporate/transactional law. He presently serves within the local communities of Sparta, Ogdensburg, Andover, Franklin, Byram and Stanhope as Municipal Public Defender. He has spoken and lectured as former Board of Director for Lead America Institute and the Lead America Foundation in Washington, D.C., as well as on behalf of other groups at such places as the Coast Guard Academy and the New Jersey Governor’s Mansion. Colfax has been involved with and committed to local community groups, past and present, including Sparta Kiwanis Club, Veterans of Foreign War (Ogdensburg), Smith’s Kickboxing Academy, and is a past president of the Sussex County Bar Association.
