Local actor, musician opens voice studio

Stillwater - Jeremiah Downes, who attended Stillwater Elementary School as a child, is returning to the area to offer private lessons in voice this summer. Downes attended the theater conservatory at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. While still in school he obtained his Actor’s Equity card and went on to pursue a career on the musical stage, performing in concert for President George W. Bush and alongside Broadway veterans. His performing credits include various world and Philadelphia premieres, and he continues to pursue a performance career in New York under the representation of Peggy Hadley Enterprises. Clients from his private voice studio in Manhattan have included company members of Broadway’s forthcoming revival of A Chorus Line, Taboo, Fosse, Beauty and the Beast, Annie Get Your Gun (revival) and Steel Pier, as well as national and European tours of Evita, Fosse, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph, the motion picture CAMP, Fox’s American Idol and NBC’s The West Wing, among others. Downes offers private instruction in voice in many styles of interest besides musical theatre, including classical, jazz and pop/rock, for clients ages 12 and up.
