SPARTA — DeckRemodelers.com, a Sparta-based design and build firm, recently attended the New Jersey State Deck Competition in Woodbridge. This year’s competition was held in conjunction with the annual North American Deck and Railing Association Holiday Dinner for the New Jersey Chapter. The staff at Deckremodelers.com gathered in support of their entries. For DeckRemodelers.com, this year is the second consecutive winning year on the state as well as the national level. DeckRemodelers.com was awarded 2011 NJ Best Wood Deck under 500 square-foot The award was accepted by Sean McAleer the owner of Deckremodelers.com. The lead carpenter working on the winning project Frank Holmberg was also present to receive the award. The deck, constructed in cedar, is located in Tenafly. It has three levels, a hot tub, two sets of cascading stairs and custom privacy walls. This deck was also selected as the national second place winner in October, at the NADRA National Competition held in Chicago. The upper level offers views as well as convenience to the kitchen while dining. Mid-level provides for sunning and lounging offering a little more privacy while still maintaining the view. The lower hot tub level sits at 18 inches, or seat-height above the adjacent level, so access is ergonomic and as easy as sitting on a chair before sliding into the tub. This lowest level with its built in dressing screen was designed for maximum privacy from the neighbors while being oriented toward the setting sun and the night sky. Sean McAleer owner of DeckRemodelers.com is an active member of the North American Deck and Railing Association. McAleer has been designing and building decks exclusively since launching DeckRemodelers.com in 2004. His work was selected Best Exotic Wood Construction 2010 at last year’s national-level competition.
