Authorities investigate Easter house fire

— There were no injuries sustained from a Sunday evening house fire on Birch Tree Lane in Sparta.

Around 6 p.m., police were called to the residence. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the second-floor of the two-story home engulfed in flames, according to a Sparta Police Department news release.

The fire had engulfed a bedroom and the roof, according to police.

Firefighters of the Sparta Fire Department led several people from the home.

The fire was brought to control within 20 minutes, police said.

The blaze was contained to the second story, though the entire home sustained water and smoke damage. No neighboring homes were impacted by the fire.

The fire is under investigation by the Sparta Police Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s office.

Sparta firefighters were assisted by members of the Ogdensburg Fire Department.
