Sparta. Christine Quinn was appointed mayor of Sparta Township for 2021 on Jan. 6.
Quinn, who served as deputy mayor in 2020 was appointed by Councilman Dave Smith and seconded by Councilman Josh Hertzberg. She was appointed by a 4-1 vote, with Councilman Dan Chiariello voting against.
Quinn has previously served as mayor in 2016 and served as deputy mayor in 2015, 2018 and 2019.
Quinn nominated Smith to serve as deputy mayor and he was approved unanimously.
Josh Hertzberg also returned to the council, after having served on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. His seat on the now Board of Commissioners is vacant.
