Church invites community to Egg Hunt

SPARTA — Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is inviting the community to an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28.

The hunt will start at 1 p.m., rain or shine, with crafts, games and refreshments afterwards.

The Egg Hunt will have a special guest who will welcome visitors, the Easter Bunny, who will encourage the children and be available for photos throughout the event.

“We welcome children and their parents to come and enjoy this festive day, which celebrates new life and rebirth in anticipation of the week to come,” said Pastor Tina. “As a prequel to Holy Week, the Easter Egg Hunt allows the community to enter joyfully into the most important time of the Christian Church year, Christ’s victory over sin and death.”

Egg Hunt attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry. Attendees are welcome to bring cameras to photograph their children with the Easter Bunny.

The church will hold a Maundy Thursday service on April 2 at 7:30 p.m; on April 3, a noon meditation of the Jesus’ Seven Last Words and a Good Friday Service of the Word at 7:30 p.m.; a shared worship with St. Mary’s Episcopal of Easter Vigil on April 4 at 7:30 p.m., and two festival services on Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.

Shepherd of the Hills welcomes people of all backgrounds to meet, learn, share and celebrate the teachings of Jesus Christ. The church regularly reaches out to Sparta and surrounding towns with fun seasonal activities, including Oktoberfest and “Live! at the Nativity” at Christmas.
