Dance school celebrates 5 years
SPARTA — The Centre for Dance Artistry celebrates 5 years of dance this May 5. The school, located at 191 Woodport Road, started with two young ladies and a dream. Five years later, they will hold an open house for their dance families and the community to celebrate not only accomplishments, but memories.
‘Enriching the Community Through the Performing Arts’ is the school’s motto, showing their students that a love for the art of dance, can take you anywhere in life. Students of CDA are offered many non-competitive performance opportunities per year. The school focuses on classroom education and technique, with a strong emphasis on ballet. Their students have been excepted into prestigious ballet programs and summer intensives including New Jersey Ballet, Joffrey, Gelsey Kirkland, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Bolshoi Ballet.
Their performance ensemble has performed in 5 annual Nutcrackers, at Hershey Park, the Prudential Center, and many community events in between. The dancers will also will be performing in their first ever Dance Musical, Nemo!, on April 20 at the Newton High School. The owners believe that a strong education comes from all aspects of the performing arts; incorporating dance and theatre history and terminology in all lessons. CDA also offers Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Tumble, Pre School Programs and adult dance. Owners, Michelle Toale and Pamela Sorensen are so thankful for their dedicated families and students who have been the key to their dreams coming true.
On May 5, The Centre will be celebrating their success and welcome the community into their school. The party will take place behind the building in the picnic area. (Inside if it rains) Games, prizes, discounts on registration, and an open house and dance party will take place from 3-5 pm.
