Diamonds compete in softball tournament

— The Sparta Diamonds defeated the Brick Bombers in 14U travel softball on June 21, 12-1.

The game was part of the Schools Out Softball Tournament that took place in Sparta. The tournament featured numerous teams from the tri-state area.

The Sparta Diamonds lost the follow-up game by the score of 2-1 to the Skylands Scream. They had a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning, then gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the Schools Out Softball Tournament The Sparta Diamonds record was 3-2.

The Sparta Diamonds play in the NorthWest New Jersey Softball League (NWNJSL).

The 2015 14U Sparta Diamonds are Justine D'Ascoli, Rachel Nick, Renee Breuninger, Erika Ambrosino, Madison Arcuri, Brianna Janke, Marisa Traina, Tonianna Rispoli, Skylar Winberry, Cynthia Loh, Abbey Lazier, Alexis Cooke and Kalyla Nelson.

Girls from elementary, middle and high school age level participated.

Sparta High School, Station Park and Ungerman Field were the locations of the games.
