Disabled Vehicle goes up in flames SPARTA. A Jeep unexpectedly caught fire, and became fully engulfed on Route 15.

A Jeep on Route 15 on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, was fully engulfed in the short time it took Sparta patrol to spot the vehicle and turn around to help. The driver had pulled over after noticing a strong aroma and was checking to see what it could be. The Jeep "unexpectedly caught fire and became engulfed in flames almost instantly," Sparta police said. The Fire Department was dispatched to extinguish the flames, and while there's no known specific cause at this time, police say. it may have been electrical. The Jeep was towed from the scene by Barry’s Towing and the driver was transported to Sparta Police headquarters to make arrangements for a ride home.
